Eliwell ID974
I have a Eliwell ID974 controller in a used Samoa 120 gelato case. It didn't come with a manual and once or twice a day it goes into defrost mode and jumps from -17C to 8C and completely ruins my ice cream product in the case. Does anyone know where I can find a manual or can anyone tell me how to simply turn off the defrost setting so that it doesn't defrost on it's own? Thanks.

Re: Eliwell ID974
Having to work off memory on this on so if i am wrong i am sure someone will correct me
Push and hold the set key, after 5 seconds it take you into the set up menu, first one being CP
use up and down to get to the defrost menu, push set, scroll through, defrost termination temp should be DLI, Defrost interval time (Time between defrosts) is DTI
Defrost Endurance time is DET
Hope this helps
Regards
Raymond

Re: Eliwell ID974
This document has a 974 but I'm not sure if it is the same as yours, might be worth a try though.

Is it hot gas defrost?
They usually are on ice cream cases.
Make sure the fans are not running during defrost.

Re: Eliwell ID974
You may not simply remove these defrosts, there's a change that your compressor will be dead within some time (liquid slugging)
Once or twice a day isn't even that much.
There's something else that's wrong.
Anyhow, you have to pass 0°C, otherwise the ice won't melt
Ohhh,...and welcome. Where's PA anywhere
BTW, in attachment your manual but again, this isn't the way you have to solve this. It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Re: Eliwell ID974
The importer of Eliwell and Dixell gave me a DVD with all the manuals on it, so I never have to look very far.

Re: Eliwell ID974
I have recently been working on a gelato case that has two evaporators and is hot gas defrost. The defrosts are staggered on each evap to try to maintain the case temperature ( and supply a heat load). It also uses the same type of controller and it has multiple defrost outputs for HGV.
Gelato is not that common in canada, this is the first case I have seen, it is made by IFI from Italy. Model: tug160a
Is this type of hot gas set up common on gelato displays?
Sorry, the actual controller I have is a xw746k, the ID974 may not have the same functions.Last edited by goodguy; 12-08-2007 at 01:25 PM. Reason: not enough info

Re: Eliwell ID974
Hi All,
I think it's enough to act on DST paramenter if the evaporator probe is present. If reduced defrost will end at a lower temperature.
Dt has effect as well, because has effect on compressor activation delay after defrosting. it's needed for the drainage
