1) high suction superheat
2) exp valve not feeding properly

Another cause of high discharge temperature is the presence on noncondensible gases in the condenser, like air in the system. or maybe there is not enough cooling system for the condenser, it maybe clogged or dirty.

The compressor off limits,
coolers does not work,
high superheat,
mechanical problems.

Do you have a specific problem, or just general question?
Is it a screw or reciprocating compressor, which refrigerant & what temperature are you getting.
