Homemade charging tube
I was wondering if i could make some sort of charging scale for some small under counters. I was think about doing a charging cylinder that would hold like 2 lbs of liquid, or 6 ounces. they can vary in size and volume. Maybe a peice of 1 3/8 pipe capped off with valves on either end. I have heard of the same thing but it is glass, that can be exspensive. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Homemade charging tube
They were also known as Charging Cylinders. Only worked with single refrigerants though.
Here's one to look at....

Re: Homemade charging tube
I have one that I have found invaluable in the past. Has scales for R-12,22, and 502. Works well if you want to charge a Pound or less into a system.
I have not used it in some time, as I am an Industrial guy for the most part. I guess I could convert the scales to the new refrigerants.
I found it in a secondhand shop and the owner had no idea what it was for.

Re: Homemade charging tube
Hi NH3LVR, I have the same charge cylinder for use on
R12, R22 and R502. In the last two weeks I have sent some e-mails to Robinair distriution partners in England and Germany if I could change it to work with R134a. But no one has come back to me with a reply. Like you all my work now is with Ammonia systems.
Arthur.
