Cooling Tower CFM Per Ton
Hi to every one
As a ROT (Rule Of Thumb) it is said:
2.4 GPM/Ton cooler water flow.
400 CFM/Ton air handling unit air flow.
3 GPM/Ton cooling tower water flow.
(??) CFM/Ton cooling tower air flow.
This last ROT is unknown for me.Though there is many reservations about the the accuracy of ROTs. I see that ROTs are a Course approaches versus Fine approaches of calculations.Tough... they facilitate fast evaluations and views. I will be very thankful to answer me and any additional help for advance.

Re: Cooling Tower CFM Per Ton
Thank you Josip. Scanning more than one cooling tower specifications sheets it seems round 250 CFM/Ton.
"Nominal tons of cooling represents the capability to cool 3 USGPM
of water from a 95°F entering water temperature to an 85°F leaving
water temperature at a 78°F entering wet-bulb temperature" (manufacturer notice).
Glad to hear any corrections to this notice and to what extent could be used as ROT.

Re: Cooling Tower CFM Per Ton
Hi, afak
whatever is value ... it will be always ROT ... all depend on your choice ...
for me ROT is only good when you speak with your client to give some general picture about plant, unit etc ... at the end one real calculation must be done ... as you wrote in your first post ....
...as your client I wouldn't accept your offer without full calaculation
Best regards, Josip
