Suction filter installed in the wrong direction.
What would happen theoretically if you installed the suction filter with the arrow point toward the evaporator? Also I am interested in any examples from the field i.e. installaties that work fine or not with the filter in the wrong direction and the consequences.

Re: Suction filter installed in the wrong direction.
The main issue is there is no felt pad on the inlet of the drier to catch small bits and pieces that may break off the drier core when the flow is in the wrong direction. Flow wise there would not be any difference.
Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

Re: Suction filter installed in the wrong direction.
Suction filters are good for new units and will protect suction accumulator and compressor if unit is not clean.
After some running time they should be removed as they will not do anything.

Re: Suction filter installed in the wrong direction.
What ever direction they will trap junk in system , but remove them after clean up period. If a flared add in remove it, if a cartridge type remove cartridge. The cartrige type add suction pressure drop and reduced performance on a good day, had situation that felt cartridges collapsed and seriously stuffed things up on a large cold store and of course in summer period

Re: Suction filter installed in the wrong direction.
By fitting the filter in the wrong flow direction will reduce its filtration capacity , and if the system is dirty will cause high PD's very quickly
