    Carrier Chiller 30GZ-095

    Hi There!

I've a Carrier chiller that faults with first 46 which is superheat problem circuit 1 and then stops with fault 40 which is pumpdown fault on circuit 1. I've changed the exp valve driver board from circuit 2 but this doesnt help. I therefore bekeive exp valve is faulty. The chiller is from 1995 and a new type exp valve must be fitted which will cost around £2500!

Anyone had this problem before? Just want to be sure it's the exp valve before i order.

    Thanks in advance!

    Paul

Have you checked the EXV windings to see if any are open circuit should be about 25 ohms between common and the 4 windings. Also check the suction gas thermister and the suction transducer both of these control the EXV operation.

If you changed the EXV board you need to change the 8 dip switches to the same position as the EXV board you removed, these dip switches form the address to allow communications between all boards.
