oil pressures
can sombody please explain how oil is controlled
how to check pressures correctly?
is oil controlled by by lp ie suction accumilator or hp via oil sep?
is it one or the other or both i would assume one or the other depending on system design would i be correct in saying this?
how the oil pump works?
is there an lp and hp on the pump.
i understand comp can only go off on oil lp not hp.
how to check the oil pump works?
i dont have any faults i just want a better understanding of oil control.
thanks

Try the Sporlan website for info on oil control...

Re: oil pressures
what type of compressor,if it has an oil pump fitted then the oil pressure you read via the means available is that pressure minus the suction pressure wallah oil pressure, the oil pressure it not governed by oil sep it can affect it i guess, the compressor should always stop on hp/head pressure if you mean high oil pressure never encountered it cannot comment.

Re: oil pressures
oil pressure control is a differential pressure control with timing time ( 45 up to 120 Sec.)Inlet pressure to oil pump + oil pump pressure = Outlet oil pressureIn pistons compressor Inlet pressure is a suction side pressure , so in reading pressure of oil(out let oil pressure) we should reduce suction pressure to find our oil pump pressure.
But in screw compressor with oil pump our inlet pressure is a discharge pressure .
Best way and only way to check oil pump works is pressure of pump and noise of pump.
To check oil pressure controls works , it has testing indication arrow to push it .
