Walk in cooler running 48degrees
I am working on walk in cooler and it is running no colder than 48 degrees . The suction pressure is at 30psi and the hi side is at 210. I charged the unit propery and everything is working correctly. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get this thing below 40 degrees

Re: Walk in cooler running 48degrees
Obviously, everything is not working correctly... and pressures don't mean a thing if we don't know what refrigerant is in the system.

R404A is in the system

What does "charged the unit properly" mean?

Re: Walk in cooler running 48degrees
Hello comrad ,i had such senerio one time too,the reason is all about refrigeration load and refrigeration system capacity balancing.
for further clarity on how to go about,i shall request you to send dimensions of your walk in cooler and category, expected load, ambient conditions and final temperature you need to achieve.

Re: Walk in cooler running 48degrees
hello there not wishing to seem rude but have you got the pipes the correct way round ? not using the evap as the condenser an vice versa and did you install it and did you follow the instructions to the letter

I would suggest getting a refrigeration engineer involved.

Re: Walk in cooler running 48degrees
Start with the gas charge mate. Your pressures seem a bit low. How have you charged the system "properly"?

Re: Walk in cooler running 48degrees
the timer stucks on defrost and the indoor fan is working, therefore mag valve is shut i. e constant back pressure.
switch off the unit , open controll box, turn on unit check for the s/c on timer.
good luck.

Re: Walk in cooler running 48degrees
for charging gauge it up to high side, get your comparator check ambient temp add 15c on top, you must see exactly same psig as your calculation???????????
do you!

Re: Walk in cooler running 48degrees
Hopefully you liquid charge system into the high side.
Vapour charging will give the exact problem you have described, on R404A.
