    Re: Exapansion for Cascade system

    Hi,

Danfoss and Honeywell do R23 Expansion valves but what you will find is that R23 is not a very common gas, and finding one of these valves will be difficult.

Do not make the mistake of thinking that you can use an R22 Expansion valve just because 22 is nearly 23!!!

It will also be quite expensive to buy one of these if it is just for a project, but there is a solution.....

Use a capillary tube as your expansion device. You will have to experiment with the diameter and length but this is the way to do it.

Just to clarify cascade systems for you. The 1st stage will use R404a and will have an aircooled condenser. The 2nd stage has R23 and it uses the 1st stage as its condenser because R23 cannot be condensed normally. Any other questions, just ask!!
