Hi,

This is my first thread on here although I have been a member for a few years.

I work for a company in Australia that services mechanical seals. I deal with all makes of compressors from Grasso, Mycom, Stal and Howden to name a few.

Over the years we have experimented with a few different o-ring materials. We generally use neoprene, super neoprene from Parker to be exact. We still find the o-rings take set and is the main cause of premature failure of the seal.

We find Grasso compressors to be the most problematic. Recently, one of our clients had 2 failures within 24 hours! Anhydrous Ammonia and Suniso mineral oil were being used.

I would like to get peoples opinions and experiences with o-ring materials.

Also is there known issues with Grasso compressors that affect the performance and life of the seals? Could there be a reason they run hot?

Thanks in advance.
Dean.
