    Re: compressor replacement

You`ll have to change the capillary tube as well.

Before you went to that expence I would do a test first.
I have succesfully run 600 on both 134a and 409 with no apparent detriment to the system
I did them as favors for friends as you do and as far as I know they are still working.
I prefer 409 but 134a does the trick.

Why not fit the correct comp and gas though.
It is easy to work with and apart from the fact that it burns (or blows up) if mistreated it is safe to work with if the correct precautions are taken.

    cheers taz.

I would get the right compressor and put R600 back in it.

If you change it out for R134a, in this instance, I don't think you will get it to work properly.

You can't change the capillary cos it goes into an aluminum evaporator.

    and go get a cuppa

    Re: compressor replacement

i have changed systems from 600a to 134a

but these were only because the customer did not want isobutane on the site
it was not easy and i would not see why you would want to do it on a Domestic hotpoint

it cost over £200 per unit
i think a newer hotpoint mught be a better bet
or a replace the compressor as chillin out said

i have done the same as taz and never had to go back, not done domestics for years now but just replaced the drier if it was a leak and put r134a back in,not saying its a perfect retrofit but it works, after all ,how much time and money will a domestic stand ?
