    compressor relay

    hi guys ,

i have a display fridge in a sandwich shop thats short cycling ( compressor ) its on r12 , are the start up head pressure for r12 high ? , i think that the compressor has been running off the start connection on the relay instead of run ( poss contactor in relay stuck on start ?) the comp is pulling around 10 amps which seems high to me ? what do you guys think??

compressor sounds very noisy and doesnt start clean ,

i have changed the relay , overload , and the run capacitor but no change ,
i think that the comp has possably siezed up ,

any help will be greatly appriciated,

    thanks alan

    Re: compressor relay

Has it got a start Capacitor and if so have you replaced it, if you haven't replace it and see what happens

    Re: compressor relay

Short cycling as in runs for seconds, minutes?
what are the pressures? What are the windings in ohms?
Is it short cycling on overload klixon or something else?
10amps might be high, but we have no idea on the FLA rating.
Is it a csir (relay on the compressor terminals, start capacitor), or split cap (two capacitors, relay in terminal box)?
