Hi starman.
Yes, this is true of any forum, you always get the majority of members as "lurkers" . This is not a negative term by any means. It just means that they like to read the suff the rest put out. Marc probably has come across the same at his site.
I run a couple of forums and the same is true of all of them.
The good thing with this forum is you can see how many people have read your post. This will give you a far better idea.
the normal percentage of Lurkers to posters is 80% lurkers to 20% posters

Perhaps the Prof has been a bit spoiled by the formatting capabilities of Marc's Discus discussion board site, but it would be nice if this discussion board could have better support for special characters, subscripts, superscripts..... Writing equations to demonstrate a point is going to be a challenge, e.g.:
NRE 40°F/100°F = hg 40°F - hf 100°F
Any possibilility the software writers of this board plan to offer this capability? In the meantime, the Prof will be creative.

<p>It just occurred to the Prof how one might do special formatting:</p>
<p>NRE 40°F/100°F = hg 40°F – hf 100°F</p>
<p>He'll just have to write in html...</p>
</body>

I have Discus Pro on one other site and it is good. However, this software is far better for an open site forum in this format.
It has far more features and is more user friendly. The next version has even more features (I am testing it on yet another site) and I think you will be happy with that.
All in all, this was the one I chose and I think, made the correct choice.......... apart from the spellchecker
PS .. Mark, do you know how distracting that signature is

Yes, the colour changes are interesting and a mild shock when you aren't expecting them ;}
Any chance of moving the title bar buttons across to the left; I use a 800 x 600 screen layout and, although not often, it is a minor irritation to scroll sideways when needing the forum home page.
But, a wholehearted YES GREAT SITE.

Just checked the stats for the page.
23% are using 800 by 600, but thats still a big hit, so I will look at changing it around a bit more.
I will leave you on as Moderator in the above mentioned sites and look for other moderators fro the rest. Dean is doing quite well and joscan is quitly doing his bit.

<p>Good point.... Marc still needs to show the Prof that he understands the implications of kinetic energy on fluid flow....</p></html>
