    amana side by side

I have an Amana AC2224 side by side and £
    this is the schematic
    https://www.appliancepartspros.com/1...c2224pekw.html
Compressor doesn't start but when opening the door of the fridge, compressor starts.
As soon you close the door, compressor stops.
You then have to leave it closed for at least 2 minutes before re-opening to let the compressor run again with open door .
Light inside fridge ligts up when opening door
    Any ideas?

Has any work been done to it before it started to working funny?

What voltages do you get at the compressors live and neutral when it switches off?

If it looses the live supply to the comp when you open the door, where abouts on the circuit is the supply open circuited?

What does it do if you disconnect the wire RD/WH 170 that goes from the top lighting ciruit to the Display harness?

Not worked on it, not reversed lines or something like that... Neutral is allways connected, live (BU101) is coming from the pCB but function seems inverted. as far as I can see it, it's on the PCB probably controlled by the door switch (LTSW 129) I even don't see a connection for this door switch to the PCB

    Rd/wh 170?

No. 3 on the display harness 12 pin connector.

    Re: amana side by side

If you open the door, and then manually press the door switch with your hand. Does that give the same results as just opening and closing the door?

When you close the door and the compressor stops, does the 240v get switched off at the PCB output for the comp (display harness no.5 of the 12 terminal connector) ?

I'm guessing the fridge doesnt have its own evap, and that its using a fan and duct to steal cold air from the freezer?
Is the fridge thermistor getting trapped in cold air from the freezer, and its only when you open the door introducing hot air that its then warming up enough to warm the thermistor?
I cant tell from the drawings where the thermistor is in relation to the duct, maybe theres a restriction on the air flow. Or the damper is stuck open.

It"s indeed the same when pushing by hand on the switch...
    Whenclsing door, relay switches off.
It happens when freezer is at 20C or -20°C... when setting thermostat with open door and compresor running, compressor switches off.<
Will look further but anyhow, thanks for helping thinking.

Its a funny fault, I would be interested to know what you find.

What about taking the PCB off the fridge and putting it on a test circuit with controllable inputs.
Does the University/College you work at have an electronics department?
