    Hi
    Yes
The R134A Run by POE OILS
But R12 is running by Mineral oils
So you should clean inside of the pipe .
To clean inside pipes N2 Is a best or dry air.
If I were you I go to change the filter.

    Re: R12 in r134a compressor

Thanks for a quick answer. But I can't understand quite an answer. To explain again my case. My refrigerator originally works with R12 but the compressor started to be weak with compression. Because I can"t find r12 compressor anymore, I have one R134a compressor the same size and still have some r12 refrigerant. My intention is to use this r134 compressor with POE oil and charge with r12 refrigerant. Will it works ok. About filter is clear, I do it every time when charged with refrigerant.

    alexb,
Probably best if you are installing a new compressor with POE oil, that you use R134a as a drop in.
Very difficult to change oil in it from what I understand.
If you could change oil 100%, then probably okay
R12 went out of production about 25 years ago.

    Re: R12 in r134a compressor

Hello Ranger1 , I just wanted to know does it matter if I use r12 refrigerant with r134a compressor which works with POE oil, and I have it. The reason for this is because I have some amount of r12 and installation on the refrigerator is designed for r12, if I use r134a I have to extend capillary and had some bad experience with r134a due to blocking in the system which wasn't the case with r12. I,m told by some technicians that r12 can work with POE oil but r134a can't with mineral oil, is it correct or not.

    Re: R12 in r134a compressor

    .

I have never reverse retro filled a system from R134a to R12.
Remember R12 is banned in the UK and most European countries.

But I did find this site.

    https://www.hagerty.com/media/maintenance-and-tech/air-conditioning-dos-and-donts-refrigerants-and-the-law/#:~:text=R12%20systems%20used%20mineral%20oil,doesn't%20dissolve%20in%20R134a.&text=Note%20that%20th ere%20is%20another,and%20then%20use%20either%20refrigerant.

    And it States.

Note that there is another kind of oil called Polyol Ester Oil (POE). The advantage of ester oil is that it works with both R12 as well as R134a, so you can fill the system with it and then use either refrigerant.

    So it's your choice.

Thanks to all. It's now clear as I mentioned above but wasn't sure, that POE oil works with both R12 and R134a as well. This discussion was very useful for me. Again thanks a lot to all.
