    Toshiba units

    Hi all
    Newbie here.
Wonder if anybody is in the know here.
I have a Toshiba split fitted indoors, its about 6 years old.
    The outdoor unit is a RAS-16NAV-E (4.62kw)
The indoor unit is a wall mounted RAS-16NKV-E.(4.62kw)
I want to change the wall mount to a flush cassete unit.
I can't find an exact model match for the outdoor unit, the nearest i can find is a :-
    RAV-SM404MUt-E. (3.5kw)
Does anybody know if this would work.Ive asked a refrigeration guy and he tells to they are to old to cross reference. He said they may work, but would be expensive to try,gas/his time etc..
    Thanks all
    Matt

The 1 thing to look at with reference numbers are the letters after the unit size, so in your case, you are looking to see if a NKV-E outdoor unit is compatible with a MUT-E indoor unit. these reference numbers are normally used by the manufacturers to identify the software versions. My guess is that not only is the software mis-matched on the units you quote, but you also cannot pair mis-matched capacities on a split system (4.62kW . v . 3.5kW)

You also need to make sure that they on the same refrigerant type
