NH3 against R22
Dear friends,
I heard cooling capacity of compressor with same displacement in R22 is similar to NH3 (R717) but when I compare heat latent of NH3 and R22 they are very different, NH3 is about 1300 Kj/Kg and for R22 is about 200 Kj/Kg.
Would it be possible someone help me to compare these two refrigerants from cooling capacity aspect of view ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: NH3 against R22
Skyboy,
If it was a Mycom 200VLD compressor - 10 deg C sst 35 deg C sct
Nh3 821kw 203kw absorbed power
R22 792 kw 209 kw
R22 much denser refrigerant
So same in this case

Re: NH3 against R22
Hi
In low temperature R22 has more efincy than NH3

Re: NH3 against R22
Skyboy,
With an open piston compressor no cooling at all. At same regime -15 ºC / +35 ºC, both @ 1,000 rpm
R22 - 335,2 kW @ 117,7 kW absorb power.
R717 (NH3) - 335,5 kW @ 106,3 kW absorb power.
And then discharge temperature on R717 will be much higher.
Just remember GWP of R717 = 0, R22 = 1,810...
I hope with this you don't even keep thinking on using R22.
Take care...
