Howden WRV255 Specs
Happy New Year all. I am looking for rotor bearing journal specs. I have manufacturing tolerances, wondering if there are wear limits or if the manufacturers tolerence are what I need to be in between? Model is- MK4E WRVB255/22026/323. Looking for all rotor/bearing journal measurments

Page 42 or 117 in manual should help.

Re: Howden WRV255 Specs
New bearings required if out of above range& as stated in manual you already have, gives same clearances.
Manual shows a bigger clearance that you could accept if in the field, but if in workshop I would fix
Howden have big clearances & have found minimum journal size with maximum manufacturing bearing clearance from new.
It can also depend on rotor journals & bearing condition.
If scored, white metal wiping or any damage, should replace.Last edited by RANGER1; 06-01-2021 at 02:54 AM.

Re: Howden WRV255 Specs
Hi Ranger,
Hoping you can help. We are busy with a HOWDEN WRVi255/1.1 compressor overhaul. New axial thrust bearings fitted and ready to start checking + setting the rotor outlet end clearance. Before we get there, the manual calls for us to check the "interference nip gap" as follows:
The angular contact thrust bearings are designed to take axial thrust only. The thrust bearing is not a tight fit on the O.D. in the thrust housing. This being the case, it is necessary to clamp the outer ring of the bearing to prevent it from rotating with the rotor. To do this the thrust plate is to be ground to give an interference on the outer race of the bearings and the required interference thrust bearing nip is as shown in the table below. (Fig. 50)
We are happy with the explanation and reasoning but dont' know where to take this measurement?
any insight would be greatly appreciated.
