    Sizing Kw capacity for known volume of water

    Hello members
    Anyone know how much Kw cooling capacity needed to cool 7m3 total of water volume in an indoor open water basin from 26c to 4c where indoor temp. is 23c.
    Thanks for help.

    Do you want to know how much energy it will take to cool it or are you looking to select a refrigeration system to cool it?

    For the latter, you need to decide how quickly (time) it needs to be cooled

    Thank you Frank. Good question, I wanted to add the time but I ignored it because the basin will used for therapeutic purposes, so there will not be too much change of load on water. Yes I am looking to select a refrigeration system ( a chiller with heat exchanger) to cool the water. The time required to cool is 2-3 Hrs.

    1 watt 1 litre 1 hour. 7000litres needs 7000watts to move 1 degree in 1 hour. To move 22degrees in 1 hour you need 154kw. Divide the 154kw by 3 to get 52kw.
    Unless you got lots of money, consider a cover and 24hr pull down time.

    Just so you know. I can definitely sell you a system to do the job, I would need to install and comission.
    Assuming that Iraq still owns their own oil fields, I am picking you've got lots of cash and would be super excited to share Iraqi hospitality with some awesome New Zealanders.

    Hi
    Q=MC(t2-t1)
    Q= k cal
    M=kg
    t2 = first temperature in C
    t1= our temperature as we want
    Then you divide it in your time as you want .
