Using a new fridge in an Outside Garage / Shed?

    Hi Guys.
I AM UNSURE WHAT THE CURRENT ADVISE IS REGARDING USING NEWLY BOUGHT FRIDGES IN AN OUTSIDE ENVIRONMENT. (Sorry STICKING CAPS LOCK KEY.)

Is there still issues to consider when purchasing a fridge for storage use outside?
    Thanks grizzly

Re: Using a new fridge in an Outside Garage / Shed?

The usual problem occurs in the winter months if the garage is unheated as the thermostat bulb temperature doesn't come back into range.

The fridge side may be okay but the freezer temperature will begin to climb.

One cure has been to fit a low wattage bulb inside the fridge section to provide a bit of load on the system.

Checked a few brands on online stores, and all had minimum ambient temperature as -15C.

If you err on the safe side and go for -5C then I guess you should be safe.

If it gets any colder than that, get some self regulating heating cable and wrap around the compressor, fit a thermostat that switches it on if the ambient drops below 0C, or plug it in when it's needed

Fridges and freezers radiate heat. They will worm up the garage.

If you have just a fridge it will work fine if you have a fridge freezer with a single stat in the fridge parts is where you will have issues unless you buy a twin compressor model which there is a few around I advise if outside having a separate fridge and a separate freezer or a twin comp
