Could anyone tell me the advantages/disadvantages of the following rotary/scew/ricprocating/centrfugal/scroll compressors.As i require this information for my course work

Reciprocating compressor

When Reciprocating compressor classified by structure :

open type
advantages:
1.dismantling and inspection are possible
2. revolving speed is variable
3. engine driven is possible

dis :
1. dimensions of units are larger than that of compressors having the same horsepower
2. shaft seal is neccesary and there is possibility of gas leakage

semi hermetic type :
adv:
1. dismantling and inspection are possible
2. no gas leaks from shaft seal
3. moving part are not exposed
4. running noise are smaller that one of the open type

dis :
1. revolving speed is fixed

hermetic type :
adv:
1. compact and light
2. no gas leaks
3. moving part are not exposed
4. running noise is low

dis :
1. dismantling is impossible when damaged. a whole compressor should be replaced
2. motor is feee from moisture or dust

Rotary Compressor
adv:
1. since rotary is a high-speed, large displacement machine, its saving in manufacturing cost.

dis:
1. best for low pressure ratio

Centrifugal compressor :
used for refrigerants having large vapor volumes per tons of refrigeration and high mollecular weights.

Reciprocating compressor nomally used for small and medium ranges of tonnages, centrifugal compressor primarily for larger tonnage.
