Hi reeferman,
I work in the reefer container industry and have done for a number of years. The manufacturer of reefer machines, (with a few exceptions) are separate from the manufacturers of the reefer boxes. In fact boxes are mainly manufactured in China these days. The exception at one time was Seacold which was owned by Seacontainers and who manufactured both sections. (They were bought out by Carrier a number of years ago and the box manufacture side disappeared with the rest being amalgamated into the main Carrier operation). Recently Maersk have started to build both boxes and machines marketing the machinery under the Starcool name. Klinge's original operation in Denmark was taken over by Sabroe reefer cool who in turn were taken over by Thermo King so those two makes are now historic although I understand that a member of the Klinge family still produces limited numbers of Klinge reefer container machines for specialist use such as oil rigs etc. Finsam were only a very small manufacturer and as far as i am aware have not manufactured a reefer machine for a number of years andI have never seen a CA or MA Finsam machine. At present that leaves us with Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin and Mitsubishi all of whom offer some form of CA and MA equipment for fitting to standard reefer boxes although I would imagine that Maersk will not be far behind. The MA and CA equipment you describe is specified by the customer at the time of ordering the machinery be it Carrier ot TK or who ever and made by the manufacturer of the machinery. The Cargofresh system looks to me like a development of the original "Freshtainer" system which if you look closely is a modified Thermo King unit. Freshtainer were the original company who built CA reefer units with at first their own machinery then modifying TK. This was about 17-18 years ago and in this industry at the time was quite advanced. Not completely sure if answers any of your questions but may give an insight into the background of CA and MA and the reefer container industry.
