Mitsubishi PURY RP200YJM-A - Pipe work

Hi guys,

I am pricing to replace 3 PURY 200 YMF R22 systems.

Can I re-use the existing 11/8" pipe or does it need to be replaced for thicker wall gauge tube?

I know the Daikin VRV replace system operates with a limit on the high pressure gas side and so it is possible to keep the old pipe in service.

Mitsubishi sales say yes, a Mitsubishi tech says it will need to be replaced up to the BC box.

My head is spinning as I can't find any literature that gives an answer.

if mitsi are doing the quote-they will survey site and check feasability of the install, identifying pipelengths are within design parameters- then they should produce the spec for the install- listing pipe sizes for each run.
best to allow for a new liq line as techincal dept usually have to mop up the **** created by the over enthusiastic sales chimp

The tech head is correct it will have to be replaced as far as the BC as it's over sized if replacing like for like on the duty.
Regardless of the claims of most manufacturers I would not use existing R22 pipe work for a VRF installation ,as anyone who works on the gear will tell you they push a lot of oil.

Use replace-multi if you drop in for R22 to R410A.

From the head of the post you will see that is what I am proposing to install.

The question was not what to fit but whether I needed to replace the hotgas/suction tube i.e. the 11/8" tube.

If it is 18gauge wall at 32 deg ambient - 100deg C, then this should comply with BS EN 378 according to some charts, and it doesn't according to some others. All very confusing

Anyway, if I have to replace the one main tube I may as well replace the other. Then I may as well change the pipes from the BC box and fit a standard PURY system. At least that way I will start with a system free from contamination, even though I know the RP will scrub the oil it cannot be as good as a system installed from new with OFN purging through the lines and the correct size of piping.

Sorry for confusing you... existing unit is Mitsubishi Electric, that's why just read the requirements.

It's nothing, please go ahead to re use. However I have not much idea on compliance of BSEN378?

Hi 11/8 is probably too big. Best to check all pipe sizes, generaly R410a is one size smaller.
