    Hitachi RAS 16 FSN

    Hi all

Today I was working on a RAS 16FSN outdoor unit

The inverter compressor was found to be faulty, so my workmate altered the dip switches to only operate the standard comp.

however the standard compressor ran for about 5 minute before stopping and the outdoor shows a 5 r P indication ?
    room temperature remains above 27c

Does anyone know what the 5 r P means ?
I have looked at some Hitachi manuals but nothing for that code.
Tried calling Hitachi Technical a number of times but they have not called me back

    regards

    bob

Don't know the units but reading the manual suggests there may be a capacity safety cutting in.

    b. Operation condition
The constant speed compressor is forced to stop for
the compressor protection under the condition below:
Total Capacity of Thermo-ON Indoor Units
< 50% of Outdoor Unit Capacity
In case of the above condition, the compressor operates
and stops repeatedly. This may cause the compressor
failure. Therefore, the compressor is forced to stop in
    order to protect the compressor.

we have some ras 8,10 fs- when we lose a pot- usually the inverter 1- just disconnect the 3 phase off the terminal block before it goes onto the compressor - so when demand is over 50 % the dol compressor runs happily- for about 18months-then game over- no need to adjust dip switches-as long as the inverter board is ok
