Semi-Hermetic compressors
Hi
While changing some unloader valves I noticed oil pooled on top of some of the pistons. How much is acceptable if any.
Regards Bernard.

Re: Semi-Hermetic compressors
Hi Bernard.
There are always small oil quantities on the pistons.
If liquid is pulled into the crankcase, then it washes the oil out through the discharge.

Thanks chemi
If I did a complete oil change on a pack and filled the compressors up to 3/4 on the sight glasses and the reciever.Would this be the correct amount.
Thankyou Bernard

Re: Semi-Hermetic compressors
Sounds fine but watch out for carrier comps they like 1/4 full sight glass. Most comps copeland etc are 1/2 to 3/4 full.

Re: Semi-Hermetic compressors
Hi Bernard,
When you change oil in a compressor, measure the amount you took out, fill up the same amount unless it was low before.
Always remember to clean the oil filter as well.
