maxima 1300 compressor snapping cranks ?

That's a new one on me. How many?
What year and hours? Anything loose?

not really a new thing, we replaced a few of them... pls give some more info on what happened... usually they fail when the clutch is worn out and unit runs for a long time like that

Where are the cranks broken? Inside the compressor or where the clutch mounts?

Check the rpm in the display. If the W wire has a high resistance it will give a false reading.

A Carrier with a design flaw? Never heard such a prepostourus suggestion

design flaw my backside i seem to remember tk did exact same thing would suggest checking why did the cluth shoeslock up etc etc poor maintenance vibration belt tensions and so on

clive is right, on maxima's problems come mainly from the clutch... if it is to worn out , the little springs that hold it closed will fall of... at this moment the shoes fail to disengage from the compressor when the unit stops....
a few starts like this and the crank will surely snap....

also when tightening belts always use a measuring tool...

Makes sense.

Mind you try telling customers today that they need a new clutch, they will generally ignore your advice until it fails in a major way. Big fleets are the worst, the "fleet engineer" always knows best.
