    Re: gas welding gear

    I have one of these,

    http://www.westsidewholesale.com/ext..._-na-_-na-_-na

Have used on 1 3/8" or on drier changes etc.

    And one of these,

    http://www.ryanairconspares.com/turb...rch-p-243.html

Which is good upto 1 1/8" indoors.

If needs be i'll used two torches to get things hot enough quick enough and switch to one to braze.

Also got one of the rothenberger torches.

Think i got them from RPW/FSW.

    Re: gas welding gear

I got them from RPW who's now called FSW http://www.fsw.uk.com/branches.htm for their nearest branch.

The good thing with the turbo torch is that if the nozzle gets blocked up you can take the jet out and clean it. I would advise you put some thread lock on the hose connections as they can come appart, i did resent the price a bit but they do the job well which is all you can ask and are more reliable than the rothenberger torches and less hastle for small stuff than the oxy/ac.

FSW aslo do an oxy/mapp set up with a full size refillable oxy bottle but i don't think you will save much weight over a conventional set up.

I think Dean&Wood and HRP do turbo torch stuff too.

    I use this one http://oldsite.stareast.com.au/Speci...2011_final.pdf
It's a Mapp Gas with an Oxy cylinder getting to 3050degC. Very small and light weight. It cost me $350. Unless I need to weld over 2" pipe then the old heavy welding set comes out.

I've bought parts off these guys but as i can't beam myself 2000 kms to their store, one has to weigh up the quality they distribute. So far though, the majority has been fine. bought one 630mm 240v fan/motor combo that lasted a few months only, so no joy there. Let me know how your map/oxy kit works out, as in how long the fuel lasts before having to replace bottles. Say hi to Mario next time your there.. Mike.
