This is a klixon from a Copeland Semi Hermetique Compressor

    relais AC 250V max 6A 300VA ind

    it has 7 terminals

I know the first two are live and neutral
    Then there are numbered 1, 2, 12, 14 and 11

What I want to know is this

Live nutral, Probe out , probe in, and three relay terminals, (common, open and closed)

If memory serves there are markings on the side of the thing below the terminals. The probe terminals conect to a temp probe in the compressor head.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Abe.

It is exactly as Chilly says.
If there is a problem with it, you can bridge the relay till you get a new one.

Pse tell me what this device does
I know it senses temp of the compressor head or something and will cut it out if the head gets too hot

    What are the relays for??
    Thx........

    Hi Abe.

This is a motor winding protection unit, the don't last too long.

If you take a close look, you will see the the L and N.
Then you have two terminals marked 1 and 2, these are for the thermistor, then you have a relay contacts, 11 is common, 14 is NO and 12 is NC.

The relay contacts are used to protect the winding by connecting the compressor contactor in series so if the winding temp goes up, it will cut the compressor out.

One of the problems with these things is the compressor vibrations, it brake the contacts inside.
I usually install them in the electric board.

    Re: Klixon

    Hi Abe,

The live and neutral connections on it are ONLY for a live and neutral connection.
These connections are to power the transformer inside it.
(hope you are not trying to put the control circuit through the L & N connections)

The relay then provides a n/o and n/c contact. To which you can put 240v through it, up to 6A
IF AT FIRST YOU DON`T SUCCEED.
DESTROY ALL EVIDENCE THAT YOU TRIED!
    and go get a cuppa

    Re: Klixon

    Hi,

first of all - klixon is thermorelay. If temperature is too high, kontakts of klixon are off (or on) and ...

The Kriwan needs thermistor - it is resistor with resistanse as function of temperature.

You have to choose another Kriwan!

I understand much much better now.......
I know now.........the live and neutral powers the transformer.

And I can use the relay to switch on and off........
    Its coming together now......
