Searle Celler Cooler
Hi not much experience on this equipment ,it is in mates pub and seems to have been running quite a while with little or no gas.was on r12 which ive tried to replace with 413 but system will only run for about a minute or less before shutting off then comes back on after 10 or more minutes then does same again. So its proving difficult to regass or access ,compressor seems ok but when it cuts in theres not alot of movement on gauges whats best way to check compressor is ok.Any help welcome.Cheers.

Re: Searle Celler Cooler
Have you identified and corrected the gas leak, have you liquid charged the receiver, are you sure that the TEV is not closed down or even the heat exchanger blocked (had that quite a few times) When it stays off for 10 minutes what exactly is it off on, LP, HP, T/stat, klixon, contactor overload?

Re: Searle Celler Cooler
Did you change the filter/drier?
Did you vacuum the system properly?
It sounds like it is going off on H/P switch,
Is the cond clean and undamaged?
Did you liquid charge the gas?
If the comp has stop valves on it you can shut the suction valve and make sure the comp pulls a vac. Then let it sit for a moment to make sure it doesn`t rise again. This would prove the comp is probably ok... hope this helps.IF AT FIRST YOU DON`T SUCCEED.

Re: Searle Celler Cooler
All i can tell you all is the liquid line gets very hot when operating whilst the suction remains warm, the gas appears to be circulating through the system but not sure 100%.Ive not changed drier or TEV ,trying first to make certain compressor is ok before fitting new parts, dont think there is any shut off valves on comp to check its pulling and holding a vac is there another way to check comp is ok.

Re: Searle Celler Cooler
If the liquid line gets v hot then a safe assumption would be that the comp is ok .
make sure the cond is clean and is getting a good air flowIF AT FIRST YOU DON`T SUCCEED.

Please give us some readings so that we have something to work with.
If the compressor is shutting down after about 10 minutes and the pipes are hot then we get back to a refrigerant charge problem. Are there any pressure switches in the circuit which are operating when you run it ? But, to be honest it sounds like the compressor Klixon is operating due to overheating; which comes back to the refrigerant charge.Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Searle Celler Cooler
Here is a link to the specs of R413a
http://www.isceon-refrigerants.co.uk...brochure49.pdf
If the liquid line is hot, generaly there is a condensation problem.
If there is a condensation problem, then normaly the evaporator wil not function fully and suction will not become cold.
So take 2 bucket of water and clean the condensor, then restart, take readings and fix it.
