    240v Bulkhead light fittings.

I have been advised that standard bayonet cap lamps (Light bulbs to many), are being phased out!

If this is true what alternative would anyone suggest for this very common light fitting?
I walked into a walk in fridge this morning complaining to the site engineer about the poor lighting.

He replied that the low energy lamp that was fitted was the modern alternative to the soon to be redundant lamps!!!

    Anyone else seen similar?

T5 is the latest word in lighting.
It has electronic ballast and give 5 times more than T8 neon lights.

For the small PL bulbs, it takes some time till they give full light.

We only use vapour proof flourescent fittings, twin lamp as standard, good light and easy to fit. T5/T8 is an excellent alternative. Those CFLs are crap in coldrooms, you have to leave them on permanently as they are so slow to light up.

    Guys.
These are tiny walk in fridges or freezers.
Anyone that has worked on the trailer type will know what I mean.
There are loads about with these bog standard Bulk Head light fittings.
We used to use Son T or similar in the cold stores.
What I am talking about is a lot more basic.

You could try the halogen bulbs instead of the low energy ones, we use 70W at home to replace 100W normals.

halogen are definitely the better option but i am curious as to the life performance compared to the heavy duty incandescent type.
bottom line is buy up big on the old type if you have the oppotunity.

grizzly maybe you can keep us informed on the application suitability
    cheers

    Hi :
try these, but choose the yellow light, and 30 watt and up,there are plenty of manufacturers that make them.
