Don't they use some kind of heat exchange, a coil for instance?

The heat exchanger element is missing also the pre filters,
I think on your 1500 model there are two chambers with heat exchanger elements

poor performance? i'm not surprised, the fans will not be developing any pressure. you see, there is also supposed to be a cover plate, over where the heat exchanger should be.

i can't beleive nobody else spotted this.

    Re: what's missing...?

I took the covers off expecting to clean the filters and give them the once over...I was confused enough to ring daikin tech to double check :-/

The customer now has the task of tracing who did it -installers or last service company and prehaps more importantly why they were removed in the first place..this was only installed in late 2002

the Daikin guy reckons it's about 2k to replace the 4x heat exchangers and filters -seems a bit steep but who knows..?

still, we're in the clear and will just await the outcome.. ;-)

    cheers
