    Need Sizing Info

I have a 10-year old A/C unit(fan and compressor) in my bedroom, which has died.
Although the plate says it is 20,000BTU, it is so old I suspect today's A/C units require fewer BTUs. For example, the compressor is encased in a heavy metal case, measuring 39" x 22" x 12" and the fan/control unit is 39" long, etc.
The room dimensions are a total of approx. 1100 cu.ft. What size unit do I need and is there something else I need to know(the seller will install the new unit, including supplying the *****).

    Re: Need Sizing Info

Did the 20,000 BTU do what you wanted it to do? If so the BTU rating will not change. Chances are a modern unit will be more compact.
