I'm going to the pub dear

The level of potentially harmful contaminants is much higher in the air of bars and casinos than on highways and city streets, according to a study published in the September Journal of Occupational & Environmental Medicine. The study was conducted in a casino, six bars and a pool hall in Wilmington, Del. During the study and before a ban on smoking in the state, indoor respirable particulate air pollution (RSP) levels averaged 20 times of those measured outdoors. The author, James L. Repace, Associate Member ASHRAE, visiting assistant clinical professor at Boston's Tufts University School of Medicine, says that "it is far worse for your health to be a bartender or casino dealer in a smoking-permitted establishment than it is to be a turnpike toll collector."

In Belgium, you'r e not allowed to smoke in all public places like buildings, trains, churches...
In bars there must be a separate are for smokers and non-smokers and there must be an extraction (extarcting 6 times the volume/hour) or an air purifier.
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Our local hospital gave our company the job of designing and installing a heating, ventilating and air conditioning system for a smoking room.

The hospital enacted a smoking ban about 5 years ago. As a result they were finding cigarette butts in all kinds of hiding places. Besides this being a fire hazard, terminally ill patients don't care if smoking is bad for your health.

Anyway after much debate the hospital decided on this smoking room. In area it is 14'x14' (4metersx 4meters). My price for this system was $12,000. ( L7,500 ?).

We brought in a lot of outside air. All the exhausted air went through a charcoal filter and then an electronic air cleaner before it went to the great out doors.
