I maintain a large office block built in the early seventies, it gets it's heating and cooling from 4 stall s73 screw compressors. They are 31 years old and still going strong. I think this is because they use river mersey water for the condensers, it's like my old granny who swore by a drop of brandy a day.

today, they dont build them to last.

I'm sure that whatever flow in river mersey helps to keep the inner side of the condensers in tip top condition.
