Re: humidifier selection
hi krups,
there are a few methods of humidifiers,
steam
ultra sonic
water falling on a large warm surface
steam is used in babies rooms to keep high humidity, cheap and dont last very long.
ultra sonic - ultra sonic waves are braking the top layer of water in to fine, almost un seen mist. best method, no heat rejection, no moving parts lasts for ever ( well, almost) very expensive.
the last one is widly used to keep high humidity in hatcheries and special greenhouses. cheap and useless for a dental sugery.
I'd go for the ultra sonic one.
they all controled by a humidistate, generally not supplyed by the machine seller.
hope that helps.

Re: humidifier selection
Carel do a range of boiler type humidifiers tha can have a little fan discharge box on top, and incorporate all the controls barring a sensor. Theirs go down to 1kw so should cover your requirements. I think they do one with an element like a domestic boiler to. probably more expensive but wouldn't require the cylinder changing just cleaning out.
Is there a 'standards' reason for the humidifier or is it just for comfort? it may be that something like a Calorex evaporative unit would do the job. Won't control very tightly though.
Ultrasonic is the best low life time costs solution but very expensive outlay so I would go for a boiler type in preference
