Remove Unit
What would the estimated cost factor be to recover 200Ibs of R22 *****, break down and remove this old Carrier unit. I've recovered ***** from smaller units but have never tackled something like this. Some pointers or what to look out for would be great. I've included some pictures. Thanx for the help.
Smart remarks come from smart people.

Re: Remove Unit
Recovering refrigerant is the same on a small unit as it is on a big unit - just takes a little longer on the big stuff
. The way to cost it up is to look at your recovery machine and see how much refrigerant it can handle per hour.
Multiply this with the estimated quantity in the 'big' unit and add a little for unknowns, bottle hire and expenses. That's assuming you charge by the hour.

Re: Remove Unit
is the system still working? as in, can you pump it down to the receivers?
It's a lot quicker / cheaper to get the refrigerant out of the system as a liquid.

Re: Remove Unit
If the water is still connected either ensure the pumps stay running whilst recovering, there should be a shut off valve on the liquid line to enable a partial pump down, this liquid can be drawn off very quickly or pumped directly into the recovery bottles by the compressors.

if it is a chiller keep both evap and condensor pumps running as it can freeze up and spilt tubes/ tanks
