    hi bernard,

it very simple, if the two phases trip from any reason, there is no curant on the third one so they save money on a single clickson.

but there is still 240V on that phase!

Thankyou for your prompt reply. but why bother having any fuses on the actual unit, why not just rely on the 40 amp c/breaker on the consumer unit.

its all come down to money.

if they can save a littla screw, they will. the same with electrical components.

by the way, this method is used by compressor manufacturers for many years.

why dont my R410a tourque spanners fit the flare nuts on the hitachi condensing units? they fit every other brand i have installed thus far...

sort of spun me out... just had to use the shifters instead, maybe i got a freaky unit or something... lol.
