Red face Load Calculation for a display Dome

    Dear All,

I am calculating the heat load for a 10x10x10 cubic glass dome which is exposed to sun on all sides and roof is also exposed.

Suggest me how much btu/hr that will be suitable for this dome.

    Thank you.

Cristal clear!! And what about the shape of a "cubic glass dome"? Is it cubic or dome?

Quite obviously the solar gains are going to be massive ... Is it likely you would be able to over come them at all?

Think of the situation in a car with the ac on full and the sun shining in through the windows? The sun is still as hot as ever ?

Have you thought to giving greater consideration to air movement and perhaps creating some shade areas inside the structure to creat comfort zones.

Calculation of solar gains might be best served by going back to basic principles and calculation of the direct radiation onto the dome surface.

You should be able to get data from reference books such as ASHRAE etc.

just a passing thought would using Ultraviolet (UV) Reduction Roller Blinds (see link but iam sure there are 100's out there) to reduce the solar gain be of use?
