Help to calculate Heat Exchancger
Hello,
I need information to calculate coaxial heat exchanger. I knew the mass flow from each medium, the temperatures and pressure.
But I don’t know any heat-transfer coefficient. Also I need to know how to calculate a accumulator (surge drum?).

Hi Carode
if you give your requirements to a coaxial heat exchanger manufacturer they will size it for you.
As for the surge vessel rule of thumb, size to hold the contents of the largest group of coolers that would be cycled as one, ie. if they were on defrost and the liquid was all pushed out by the incomming hot gas that the accumulator would hot this.
More info on the surge vessel application would also have a bearing on this.
Kind Regards. Andy
