Whirpool defrost heater
G'day to everyone, first question on this site, but after reading other posts this one should not cause too much trouble.
I came across a whirpool f/f, model no wrn33nwb6, in which the defrost heater was not working.First check of the heater showed a resistance through the heater so i suspected another problem as you would. Time clock checked out ok and so did thermal overload as well as high temp switch.
This got me back to the heater itself, so i disconnected it and put an old heater in its place. The replacement heater worked fine.
I got a hold of a wiring diagram and it showed a p-cord running through the heater. Has anyone heard of a P-cord through a defrost element?
Anyhow i contacted the local appliance store for whirpool and was told that a new heater was no longer available for this model. When it was available it came installed on the evap. That would have been a hot price to pay when ya needed the heater.
Now i need to now a replacement heater, any ideas?
Thanks in advance,Fred
