Thanks to everybody who replied to my post "closed loop chiller". I had come to think that I had a cooling water flow problem, so I flushed the system and used a de-scaler. There was some improvement, but still not able to cool as well as once was. Is there a way to determine flow rate by pump pressure and pipe size?
You can disconnect the water leaving hose from the heat exchanger and allow it to run into an empty bucket whilst timing the process.
After, say 30 secs, depending on how big you chiller is, you can stop the process and weigh the water. The result can be determined in kg/s. If you care to carry out this exercise and post the result, together with the water temperatures entering and leaving the heat exchanger then I will calculate the duty of your machine for you, which you can then check against the plate rating.
