Patrick Mullins, one of the best known faces in the UK refrigeration industry, has been presented with a long-service award following a quarter of a century with WR Refrigeration.
Patrick was presented with an engraved gold watch by Hannu Saastamoinen, CEO of Huurre Group Oy, parent company of WR Refrigeration, at the company’s Thurmaston, Leicester, headquarters.
Hannu said: “I congratulate and thank Patrick for his loyalty, dedication and sheer hard work. His energy and motivational influence on colleagues is well known and respected – in the company and wider industry. He has contributed to the development of WR Refrigeration over many years, and continues to do so in his role as business development and marketing director.”
Echoing these words, Mike Nicholas, managing director of WR Refrigeration, said: “Patrick joins an illustrious and select group of people within the company, who wear their long-service gold watches with pride. It is well deserved and much appreciated.”
Patrick began his career in refrigeration as an apprentice with Commercial Refrigeration Waterford, in the Republic of Ireland. After qualifying, he gained experience overseas managing cooling systems in a major military hospital complex in Saudi Arabia.
After his stint in the Middle East, he joined Exeter Refrigeration in Devon. He was recruited to join Westward Refrigeration and rose to become service manager. WR acquired Westward in 2001 and, following a series of takeovers, Patrick was appointed to his current post as business development and marketing director for WR Refrigeration.
Patrick said: “I am naturally delighted to have achieved this particular career milestone. I have to say, it does not seem like a quarter of a century, more the blink of an eye! I have enjoyed it – and continue to do so. In fact, I think it would be fair to say that I am only just getting into my stride!”
He added: “It is an exciting time to be at WR Refrigeration. We have many plans and developments in the pipeline, and I am looking forward to the challenge of - if not the next 25 years - then certainly the next decade!”
