View Full Version : sandwich panel
Hi to every one
I need some speculations on the expected thickness of the PU panels used in cold stores at ambient temp of 45C for at storage temps of :
≥ 5 ℃
≥ -5 ℃
≥ -25 ℃
≥ -45 ℃
Thank you

we use
60mm, 80mm, 125mm & 150mm thick PUF panels typically for such temperatures.
Infact Asharae gives a specific formula for considering the thicknesses & these values are just matching that formula

What's that formula then?

Thank you smpsmp45 for your info. Pls post it at your earliest.
Hi! afak, You can find more info from the mfg of sandwitch panel in China. www.bingshaninternational.com/main_e.htm (http://www.bingshaninternational.com/main_e.htm)

That scanned copy is almost invisible. I have prepared that in PDF format. Ashrae recommends R values for Insulation. One can easily derive the Insulation Thickness based on the Thermal Conductivity of the insulation material.

dont forget other factors as in fire ratings, thickness needed to span wall panels or top hat sections, exposure to sunlight,to name a few,as a rough guide,100mm for chillers, 150mm,freezers,200mm for any lower, thats using polyurathane or P.I.R. not rockwool or polystyrene.:D
Are these thicknesses used to the roof, walls, ground equally?

only on small rooms that are self supporting, meaning something like a 3mtr cube ,but when you start going above that the panels need to be thicker to add strength, after 6/7 mtr you need to be looking at top hat sections suspended from the roof steelwork by threaded rods.sizes only as a guide.;)
