Hi,
This ice maker appears to make ice fine, however, it does not release it into the bin.:( I believe this may have something to do with the gas solenoid. On checking the board, there is no 240v signal going to the solenoid at the time the ice should be released. Can anyone offer any help or advice?
Cheers

easiest diagnosis is switch the machine off, turn the switch on the pcb board to the off position and reset the dip swith on the board in to test mode, this fires all of the components in turn i.e compressor, water pump, water inlet and the solonoid valve.

Connect a meter to the solonoid valve coil and see if you get voltage if not the boards duff, very rare for the board to fail.

Hi Lrac,
Thanks for the advice, have metered solonoid valve and appears to be open circuit. Do you happen to know if the solenoid coil can be replaced without opening the gas circuit. There appears to be a large nut and washer on one side of the unit, if I were to release this would this seperate the coil from the valve? As you might've already guessed, I'm not a real refrigeration engineer, just someone who likes to sort his own problems!
Cheers

You can safely remove the large nut from the solenoid coil stem, the valve is a sealed unit so no problems there.

Be careful when you replace the solenoid coil. If you energize the coil, when it is not in place on to of the valve stem, the coil will burn out.
