Hello Frendo, and welcome to RE.

You have not really told us what help you require. What is the problem that you have?

Have you looked on the unite hermetique web site?
http://www.tecumseh-europe.fr/

Their compressors tend to have a code beginning with two or three letters eg. AJ , CAJ followed by numerals and more letters. These are normally on an embossed metal plate.

What sort of refrigerated unit is the compressor on and what physical size is it? The size of the pipe stubs might also help or does it have a rotalock?

Hello,

A warm welcome from Belgium.

Don’t hesitate to ask any question and share your knowledge and experience with us.
This forum is read worldwide and you may expect a professional answer.

If you post a question with the units you’re used to work with, place between brackets the other units. So if you normally work with SI units (bar, °C, m³/h..), place then between these units the proper IP units.

You can do the conversion with a free software program Uconeer
You can find it on http://www.katmarsoftware.com/uconeer.htm#download
Or you can use the spreadsheet of Dan posted on http://www.refrigeration-engineer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=50617#post50617 post 6.

When you have a technical problem, try to post as many as possible readings you have made. You will see that we need many times condensing and evaporating pressure; discharge, suction, evaporator outlet and condenser outlet temperatures. Try to measure these very accurate.
The better you measure these, the better we can help you.

Note also band names, types of all the items installed in the installation.

I hope that you stay a long time with us and that you can contribute to expand this forum.

Peter

10x to all for your immediate reply. My problem is that I can not find the power of this compressor. My client brought me only the metal plate in which it says that it is an UNITE' HERMETIQUE COMPRESSOR which should be charged with r12 and 5.8 amps. It was mounted on a milk cooler. I went to the tecumseh site but it seems that this compressor is very old so I did not find anything.

welcome to the forum
may be you could put a photo of the plate on that may help us to identiufy the compressor.

Grind it open and mesaure bore x stroke x number of pistons x speed of the motor gives you the theoretical swept volume.
Or give us the capacity of the milk cooler.

Hi Frendo
I don't know if you have got any further with your problem?

the metal plate in which it says that it is an UNITE' HERMETIQUE COMPRESSOR which should be charged with r12 and 5.8 amps. It was mounted on a milk cooler.

I was looking at some old catalogues and don't know if this is relevant...

A unite hermetique CAJ4492AHR is a R12 HBP single phase CSIR with a MRA (Max Run Amp) of 5.8 amp.

In fact its the only one I can find with this current....this is data for UK voltages.

It lists the compressor as 3/4 hp, 25.95cc with a duty of 385W @ -25C evap, 575 @-20, 810 @ -15, 1080 @-10, 1395 @-5, 1740 @0, 2320 @7.2, and 3000 @15C.

This would probably be in the correct ballpark for the milk tank cooler duty?

The next closest on current is a CAJ9513THR with a current of 5.9 amps.

Hope this helps, ECM.
