module design issue

What is the real advantage of module design for chiller and heat pump? It seems no cutting customer's cost but make manufacturer's work easier:confused:

Two or more scroll chillers\ heat pumps can substitute one large screw unit. Maybe it's competitive in cost and easy capacity control.:)
And also it's easier for design and manufacture and transportation and installation.
Is there any other advantage or disadvantage?
