Compressor problem I think?

3 y/o fridge freezer side doesn't stay cold all the time it will stay freezing for a week or so the things thaw and a cool air is blowing, I checked all vents for blocks' pulled back off and top of compressor VERY hot and fan was blowing? cold then cool cold then cool any Ideas?

Have you checked that the freezer coil is not icing up due to a defrost problem? This should be at back of freezer.

You could possibly have moisture in system or a blocked capilliary. Does compressor sound unusually noisy or struggling before unit shuts off.

Has any work ever been done on the system ?

If you switch it off and leave it for 24hrs does it then run OK for some time before it fails? If so how long?

I think you'll possibly have to get an engineer in to have a look at it.
