Hi folks,

Wonder if anyone has any experience of doing central control on multiple Panasonic splits? I'm not particularly familiar with Panasonic and seem to have hit a brick wall.

For context, there are 6 splits over this building; PZH2 outdoor units; it's 1:1 outdoor to indoor units, each indoor unit having its own CZ-RTC5 controller.

Have got a CZ-64ESMC3 central controller (CZ from this point!) to install - there is 2 core shielded wire running between each indoor unit.

The wiring instructions in the installation manual for this unit get a bit ambiguous when it comes to interunit wiring with the indoor/outdoor units.

With u1, u2 & functional earth linking all units in sequence starting with the CZ, I get E08 UNIT 1-1 errors on each device. At this point, I simplified things and broke it down to troubleshoot:

Started with CZ linked to the first indoor unit only - it assigns the unit and is able to control it. When I add the interlink to the second indoor unit, the E08 errors happen again, CZ not detecting any units.

After this I tried taking the link from the central controller to the outdoor unit first, with an interlink between the first and second outdoor units - same issue.

It is clear that the separate units all have an ID of 1-1, which is obviously conflicting, but I can't seem to get them to assign themselves different IDs, or find a way to do it manually - from the way that the units behave on power up (including the CZ), I'd expect it to do some auto addressing based on what they can detect around them?

Am I way off the mark here, am I missing something painfully obvious?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Heres a link to the installation manual.

Thanks - have seen that but can't seem to get anything to work relating to it still, though. On the central controller it only displays unit 1-1 when the single unit is connected, I'm unable to change/add anything else when additional units are connected.

You need to programme each individual split for zone/group on its own controller then the master controller will see the different group addresses, as you would on , say ,Daikin

Panasonic are my fav. You can change the addresses on each system via the local remote.
Press these 3 together: Return arrow, middle enter and right arrow
Then go down to detailed settings
Code 12 is outdoor address
Code 13 is indoor address
Code 14 is central group address
An address of say 4-2 means Outdoor Address 4- indoor 2
The UK tech number is : +441344853393

Code 14 is not central control address - it is the indoor group master \ sub set up
Central address zone is set on code 03.
For split systems just change the outdoor system number (Panasonic call it RC address) on Code 12.
Then do an auto address via the room controller CZ-RTC5B.

Spot on, yeah I got confused. I saw 14 as group control address.
