Hi.

I have a weird one here(well, you may disagree). R600a system, fridge has a separate wet wall evaporator from the freezer which has the usual battery style evaporator.

The client called with symptoms of both cabinets being not cold enough. The freezer was essentially a fridge whereas the fridge was pretty much ambient. The compressor & evaporator fan both ran.

However, the weird thing was that the running pressure was around - 0.5 bar, which in my eyes is about right. Anyway, I carried out a usual regas procedure(drain refrigerant, fit drier, vac & recharge) & the gauge readings after were again around - 0.5 bar but it's still no different in that both cabinets are not cold enough.

What am I missing? I'm probably not seeing the wood for the trees.

Many thanks in advance.

Bobby.

Do they normally run -0.5 bar when the fridge and freezer are down to temperature, or when both are warm?

How did the compressors pull down rate of the pressure, from standing to running pressure seem?

What sort of pipe temps are you getting when it first starts, and then also when its settled the pressures?

Usually, in my experience so far, - 0.5 bar or thereabouts is usually an OK sort of pressure. The pressure pulled down fairly swiftly. Condenser got warm very quickly but I spoke with the customer a few hours later & it was still not warm enough in the cabinets.

Try defrosting, could be a block of ice
-27.9deg C suction (-5 bar).

Already done a defrost. Unfortunately, that made no difference.

How did you defrost?
Could take awhile!
Can you measure air on, air off evaporator.
Can you hear anything going through capillary tube.
Compressor suction & discharge temperature

The client switched the appliance completely off with both doors open for 48 hours.

If you turn off, does suction pressure increase rapidly?

I'd say it takes about 5 to 10 seconds or so for the pressure needle to settle.
