I have a cellar cooler and there is an outside unit for it as well
I am wanting to disconnect bough the units to keep for another project
I was told that the cellar unit will not work with the outside unit
There are 3 pipes comming out of the cellar unit. One plastic one steel and one coper
I am wondering what they do and safe to cut them or not?
Thanks

the pipes will be filled with refrigerant it is illegal to cut the pipes and release the refrigerant and sit under pressure it can be dangerous and you might get burt from the liquid in the pipes

There are 2 pipes so which one do you think it will be that is full of refrigerated gas? Is there not a tap that I can turn off? And why illigal?
Thanks

Because there has been a loss of ozone at the top of our atmosphere which caused a hole some years ago and the world decided it should stop that happening before we all died of ultra violet exposure.
The law makers declared that we should no longer release ozone and CO² producing refrigerants into the atmosphere.
You will find many trained refrigerant handling trained technicians around so please call one and be sensible.

Aside from my point about removing this fridge. Do you have any scientific based for your argument other then what you have stated

if you just cut the pipes and expose the system to air you will contaminate the system and the oil in the system will be contaminated with moisture making the system unusable also the fine for deliberately venting refrigerant is up to £100,000

I am astounded by your lack of knowledge of the world around you.

That is how we professionals make our living. All you have to do is ask a local F-gas registered tradesman for a quote.

.
If it is done correctly the refrigerant can be pumped safely into the outside unit. The two sections can then be separated and moved safely. When it comes to refitting the units the pipe will probably need replacing but as long as there were no issues before it was shut down it should be simple enough to commission it up again.
It will also require new electrical supplies.
As for price if it is already to go it could all be done in one day assuming no issues but if it is not straight forward then a day to take it out and a day to put it back in.

You can't attach pics until you have 12 posts.
Better to upload them to a remote picture hosting site and post the links
